As part of TCR Hub Family Activities this summer, we are running trips on Thursdays to explore some fabulous destinations here in County Durham and beyond.
Join Family Activities Coordinator Sarah and friends to visit Seven Stories in Newcastle upon Tyne – a very special seven-storey listed building – and enjoy wonderful exhibitions and activities, see artworks, draft manuscripts, correspondence from bestselling authors and hear all about the stories behind the stories. With workshops and storytimes included, this is a high recommended destination for families with children aged 3 to 11 years old (younger and older are welcome too!). Find out more about Seven Stories here: https://www.sevenstories.org.uk/visit/
During the day, families are welcome to visit Ouseburn farm (for perhaps 45 mins – 1 hour) to see the animals. There are also Stepney Bank Stables and Victoria Tunnels locally that you might enjoy visiting).
Our series of 4 trips starts on Thursday 28th July with our trip to Seven Stories, Newcastle.
On Thursday 4th August we will visit Beamish the living museum of the North.
On Thursday 11th August we will visit Raby Castle.
On Thursday 18th August we will visit Sandsend, near Whitby a beautiful seaside destination.
Bring your own packed lunch or money to buy your own lunch – there is a cafe at Seven Stories and also local pubs and cafes in Ouseburn too.
Children must be accompanied by adults (and vice versa!) and everyone needs a ticket. Fully funded places are available to all but if you are able to pay towards the cost of the trip, a suggested amount of £4 per person, £10 ticket for a family of four (at least one of these must be a child) is appreciated. Adjust the ticket price to suit your situation.
We are picking up and dropping off at TCR Hub and also at opposite the Post Office in Staindro8.
