TCR Hub Food Provision has grown a lot during 2020 and we want to make sure that you know about all the new services we offer and how you can get involved.
There are a couple of exciting developments in light of the new lockdown restrictions. Firstly, we are now running a Community Takeaway on Saturdays between 12:00 and 2:00pm. Using the surplus food we collect from local supermarkets, our team of staff and volunteers produce some delicious meals which can be delivered to you or we can arrange collection from TCR Hub here in Barnard Castle.
There is not a menu available because our cooks respond to the food that comes from the supermarket and so cannot plan in advance. This means however that you know that every mouthful reduces the amount of food that would otherwise have gone into landfill.
In order to manage demand, we need to have your booking before 11am on the Saturday and you also need to indicate whether you are picking up your meal or would like this delivering to your door, thanks to the help of our volunteer drivers.
The meals are pay as you feel… so just pay whatever you can afford at the time of booking. No pressure whatsoever.. we just want to make good food for our community and reduce food waste while we’re doing it.
Our other new TCR Hub Food Provision initiative is a Care Package Collection which will take place the week beginning 30th November.
If you can start to collect items for care packages we will be collecting them during this week on a street by street basis. We will be looking for street ambassadors to galvanise support in your street so look out for more information soon.
