Are you passionate about tackling food waste? Looking for ways to give back to your community, and help support those who need it most? TCR is on the lookout for new volunteers to help support different strands of our Community Food Provision. We want to work with members of our community who share The Hub’s values, people who are non-judgemental, compassionate & willing to help others. In particular, if you’ve experience & enjoy working in the kitchen, like getting your hands dirty, or enjoy being out and about on Teesdale’s beautiful roads – then we want to hear from you!
Our existing team of volunteers work to a rota to help plan in advance & identify gaps in provision – so even 1/month helps to alleviate the strain on our regulars! Experience working in the community is a bonus but not essential, TCR can give you all the training you require.
HAPPINESS HUB / Volunteer Role = Kitchen & Event Support / Driver
Our weekly community cafe runs every Friday lunchtime, offering a pay-as-you-feel meal and refreshments to local residents who come together for a catch-up and some tasty food cooked by Rupert, our Food Coordinator. We’re looking for someone to help support him deliver these events, and help us increase capacity to support more participants.
FARESHARE / Volunteer Roles = Assembly & Deliveries
As part of our initiative to help reduce food waste, on Monday mornings TCR send out “too good to go” bags to families in Barnard Castle & the surrounding area, made up of the fresh food & supermarket surplus collected each weekend.
CARE PACKAGES / Volunteer Roles = Assembly & Deliveries
TCR’s Care Package scheme supports families and individuals across Teesdale, providing food & household items to those that need it most. Our volunteers help create & deliver our parcels every weekend, working with TCR staff to coordinate activities in the building and on the road. Parcels are put together on Fridays between 1-3pm & Deliveries go out between 9-10am every Saturday, with delivery normally taking no more than 45 mins.
