Teesdale Community Resources is interested in hearing from groups or leaders who are looking to deliver sessions for the older generation of Teesdale. We have seen the room hire element of our venue grow over the past year, and nearly all evenings are now booked during term time. We are now looking to develop our offer specifically for older people and have room availability during the day for those looking to work with this client group.
Deputy Manager, Laura Carrick explains “earlier in the year, the staff team and the board of trustees joined each other to talk about our plans for the future. One of the key things we established was the type of groups that we are keen to develop our work with, and the older generation was one of those chosen. We already work with some fantastic groups that older people are welcome to access, but we’d really like to offer regular sessions that are dedicated to this client group, and that offer really relevant and appropriate activities for them. As a Teesdale based charity we are fully aware of the isolation that can be felt by all members of a rural community, and it is important to us that we do everything we can to address this and bring people together to access services, opportunities and support”.
At the moment Laura is interested in hearing from people who want to run sessions independently whilst using The Hub as the venue. In return TCR are able to offer a fully accessible site, both indoors and outdoors, with competitive room hire rates. We also offer services to support the delivery of these sessions such as access to the music studio and tutors, a cafe to provide refreshments or opportunities to cook, grounds that support green activity for older people and a community transport initiative which could bring people to and from the centre. Discounted room hire may be available for long term bookings or newly established groups.
