Saturday 19th August saw staff, volunteers, trustees and supporters working hard together to  provide the residents of Barnard Castle and Teesdale with a fantastic event, showcasing the many activities and facilities available at the TCR Hub.

A huge amount of work and planning went into the day and it was a pleasure to see so many new people visiting the centre with family and friends, enjoying and exploring new activities.

For just £3, visitors could sample any, or all, of the activities being show-cased.  Everyone that I spoke to had packed timetables; all very keen to try out lots of new fun things.  I even witnessed a couple of dads tackling the high ropes; no doubt keen not to be outdone by their brave children.

The visitors I spoke with had a full itinerary with their youngsters booked in for canoeing, kayaking, music sessions, BMX and high ropes.  The cafe was doing a roaring trade in delicious home-made cakes whilst outside the sun shone and the barbecue was hugely popular, I was lucky and bought the last sausage bun.

Clubs & Groups

I enjoyed a most interesting chat with the co-ordinator of the new Pimms & Needles group who is looking forward to the launch of this fabulous new ladies club on Thursday 7th September.   Follow them on facebook /pimmsandneedles .

Some of the many highly talented musicians were providing demonstrations and letting visitors have a go on the instruments.  One young musician provided tours of the music studio and spoke with passion of the music facilities the Hub provides for him and the many other regular visitors to the music studio.
