It’s been an action packed weekend at the Hub as we welcomed a friendly group from the Mencap More2do project.
Members aged between 20 to 60 years of age have mild learning difficulties. The project encourages participants to be independent and gain self confidence.
Working closely with the group leaders, the Hub offered a choice of varied activities during their 2 night stay in our on site accommodation.
Saturday morning began on a musical note as Dave, a teacher in our Music Dept supported everyone to try out different instruments and become singing pop stars.
Next the group moved into the Hub Dance Studio for a workshop with Lauren exploring movement and dance. Although a little hesitant, with a little encouragement most participants found the confidence to join in and persevere.
Following a well deserved lunch some of the group joined local fisherman Frank as they headed outdoors into the Winter sunshine to enjoy a spot of carp fishing on the beautiful Hub Lake.
While others chose to remain indoors to relax, chill out on the comfy sofas and play games in the Atrium.
The busy day closed with an evening making and creating ceramics with Lindsey in the Hub pottery workshop.
Thanks to all our staff and volunteers for helping make the weekend such a huge success! It was a pleasure hosting such a happy group of friends.
After all the excitement and such a busy day we are sure our residents will sleep well!
