Green Christmas

Sunday 10th December was the first Green Christmas event held at The Hub.  The celebration was an alternative approach to Christmas and offered a more environmentally friendly take on all things festive.

The event was overseen by Green Santa – a more traditional Christmas figure – who was on hand to meet and greet people and talk to them about more traditional elements of the season.  He had a hand made tipi made from recycled materials and hazel wood, from which he appeared to meet the people attending.

Green Santa was surrounded by a wealth of local producers, with beautiful goods for sale.  This included Pebble Heaven and Kath Adams Healing Crystal Pictures.  These stall holders and others offered real alternative gifts, all lovingly made by hand.

The Hub also welcomed local artist Dawn Belshaw who ran a series of workshops on recycled wreath making; creating door wreaths from plastic bags and other recycled materials.  Our very own Phill Osborn, Kitchen Manager, also ran workshops on edible Christmas decorations, offering the tasty treats to be taken home when complete.

This was a wonderful event and we are very grateful for all who came and supported it in its first year.
