Putting families at the heart of the community
TCR Hub puts families at the heart of our community work, providing support, advice and activities through a range of services for all ages, from new born babies and children to parents, carers and grandparents.
We work with both children and adults at our community centre through groups, sessions, holiday fun and advice services as well as provide food provision for those who need it. Our activities include:
Family Social Club
Family Social Club offers parents, carers and children space and time in the week when they don’t need to worry about what to make for tea and can access some fun things to do as a family, in a safe and happy space here at TCR Hub.The aim of these sessions is to offer some respite from the meal-planning as well as provide some family activities that can support well-being as well as being good fun.
Breastfeeding Group was started by TCR staff because there was no support group for families in this area – it is a friendly place to connect with other breastfeeding mothers with the support of retired Health Visitor every Tuesday from 10-11am and offers hot drinks and freshly baked cakes from Louisa, our community cook.
Fun & Food
Fun and Food sessions for children who access free school meals happen over the holidays at TCR Hub and also beyond, with trips and adventures for the whole family as well as youth sessions.
School Gate Food Runs
School Gate Food runs – TCR volunteers take FareShare Food to three schools in Teesdale including Cockfield, Evenwood and Green Lane Schools, using our minibuses to transport the food, reducing waste and improving our connection with families in the dale.
Advice, Support & Signposting
Advice, support and signposting are part of the community support we offer families, working with schools, midwives, health visitors and social prescribing link workers to ensure that people can access help when they need it. TCR also offer winter clothing exchanges as well as uniform shares for families to help reduce waste and provide warm clothing over winter.
Tea & Tots
Tea and Tots is a friendly and welcoming group for adults with tots aged 0-5 years. We hold the group every Wednesday between 12:00 and 3:00 the majority of weeks throughout the year and everyone is welcome – Mums, Dads, grandparents, carers and more!
