Inspired by Nature Art Retreat
January 18 @ 4:00 pm - January 20 @ 4:00 pm
Be inspired by the wonders of nature all around us by giving yourself the gift of a weekend retreat at the TCR Hub in Barnard Castle, County Durham. Our modern purpose built venue is situated just outside the market town of Barnard Castle on the edge of the beautiful Teesdale. We are surrounded by inspiring countryside, woodland and water that will help you to relax into creative mode for the weekend.
The Retreat: You will work with up to four artists to develop skills in wet felting, printing, pottery and pastel work during the weekend. You will begin the weekend with a workshop on developing ideas and meeting your artists. Saturday will include an optional Inspiration Walk local to the venue where you can sketch, take rubbings, photograph and collect items to inspire your workshops. You will then participate in two workshops at the Hub with two artists. On Sunday you will participate in a third workshop of your choice before getting together with your fellow artists to reflect on the work produced.
The Venue: The TCR Hub is a Community Facility ran by the charity Teesdale Community Resources. We are a not for profit organisation and invest any surplus into activities and services for the local community. We have a long history of creative work and are the base for Teesdale Pottery Club, Veg Out in Barney, Cream Tees Youth Folk Group and many more groups and services. We are open to all and our venue houses a drama studio, dance studio, workshop, classrooms, the Serene Spa hair and beauty salon, the Hub Kitchen, TCR Music Studio and accommodation for up to 33 people. We also have substantial grounds that include a High Ropes Course, two lakes, Outdoor Gym and Nature Area as well as the Veg Out Community Garden.
The Participants: The weekend is open to everyone with an interest in art. You might want to attend to develop a particular skill or technique, to relax with friends and family or spend some time on your own wellbeing. Our artists are welcoming and will work with all abilities to ensure you enjoy your weekend and feel the time is being spent well.
