Durham Food Network

Our CEO Rachel participated in her second Durham Food Network meeting last week with fellow foodies from across the County. The virtual meet ups are an opportunity for those who work with food in the community to share ideas, good practice and learn more about local community food networks they can tap into.

This week the group heard from Refuse, a CiC based in Durham who refuse to accept food waste, reuse as much as possible and reclaim good food for the community. They run a pay as you feel cafe and share Waste Not Boxes from their base in the City Centre.

The project was great to hear about as it confirmed that there are many other organisations out there, facing the same issues and fighting to reduce waste and create food resilience.

Our most recent surplus food deliveries have been used to create homemade salsa picante, fishcakes and coleslaw, homemade oven chips and minestrone soup.

If anyone would like to have a Waste Not box delivered from the TCR Hub you can request one by emailing info@tcrhub.co.uk. We do weekly deliveries and will happily add you to the list.
