TCR Hub announced today that the popular Homemade workshops on Zoom will continue until the Easter holidays with a number of local cafes joining in the fun.

The next session is on Thursday 25th February when families can cook Meatballs, Mac ‘n’ Cheese with Head Chef Ben Parnaby from The Bowes Museum.  In this virtual cookery session, Ben will demonstrate two classic family-pleasing meals in one, while Teesdale families participate at home. He will not only share with us his yummy recipe for Mac Cheese but also demonstrate how to make meatballs too (with veggie option is available).

These TCR Hub sessions aim to provide families with a friendly, community space in which to enjoy being creative together, with the additional appeal of having the materials available to support you in fully accessing the session.

As TCR Hub’s Family Activity Coordinator Sarah Gent says, “These sessions have proved really popular, with the last few selling out! I know just how tricky it can get making sure the kids have a chance to do something different during Lockdown and it has been delightful to hear how much they are enjoying these friendly, sociable cookery sessions, which also (hopefully!) resulting in a delicious meal (or two!) after the session or to keep for the next day.

We are very aware that Zoom isn’t everyone’s thing so highlight that you do not need to turn on your video function or even speak during the sessions if you’d rather not. You’re welcome to simply participate from the comfort of your own kitchen in whatever way is best for you”

TCR Hub can provide Teesdale families with packs delivered to their door with all of the ingredients you need – just select the sundry option to receive a Meatballs, Mac and Cheese packs for 25th February to help them enjoy the session.

Alternatively, Sarah will email you through the recipe when they book to ensure that they have a chance to source all the ingredients.

If families cannot afford the materials pack or cannot afford to book the session, please email Sarah at and she will arrange this for you. TCR Hub support everyone in accessing these sessions.
