Care Packages Update March 2023

Good Morning,
I helped out with the Care Packages last week and was shocked at the amount of people we are currently supporting. The number of recipients has quadrupled since December.
We are working with the recipients to offer support and advice around budgeting, debt and managing food to ensure that everyone is making the most of what they have.
We know times are really hard at the moment though and despite fantastic budgeting and meal planning, some households are still really struggling to make ends meet through no fault of their own. You only have to step into a Supermarket to see the increase in prices and we are all aware of the rising cost of utilities.
We are looking at how we can manage the resources we have to best support care package recipients but we really need your help.
๐Ÿ’œIf you can add a few cupboard items to your weekly shopping, please do and drop off at the Hub reception.
๐Ÿ’œIf you can purchase a donation bag from Morrisons in Barnard Castle that really helps too.
๐Ÿ’œWe are currently spending around ยฃ200 a week to supplement the packages with long life food. The shelves are certainly a lot emptier than these photos show. If your work place is in a positon to support us by donating a weekly shop or could do a collection of food that would really help too!
We hate to ask our community for support as we know many people are finding things hard but it wasn’t so long ago we were all in this together and your support through that time meant so much to people who are very vulnerable in Teesdale. I can’t believe our Care Packages have been running for nearly three years now but they are still very much needed.
You can email if you would like to help by donating food, funds or volunteering as a delivery or collection driver or supporting people with budgeting.
Thank you
Rachel, CEO TCR Hub
