You can get involved in the Hub in many ways. As a community building we are always finding ways to engage with the community and involve you in the running of the charity and the building.
Volunteer: We run six business units – Music Studio, The Hub Kitchen, Room hire, Accommodation, Outdoor Education and Community Transport. Each of these areas have a variety of volunteering opportunities.
Music – We are always looking for teachers and mentors for musicians of all ages and abilities. We also look for volunteers who can help set up sound and light equipment, assist with recordings and the hiring out of equipment. There are also opportunities for volunteers to assist with the promotion of the Music Studio and Events and Gigs.
The Hub Kitchen – The Hub Kitchen is run by a small team of young people and open 6 days a week. We always appreciate volunteers who can help out on busy sessions and events such as the Summer Big Gig, Xmas At the Hub and large private parties and wedding receptions.
Room Hire and Accommodation – Much of our income is generated through Room Hire and we are always looking for volunteers who can help to promote this service at reception or by attending community events to showcase the Hub. Our accommodation is used well throughout the year by a variety of groups and we have a team of volunteers who assist with housekeeping and maintenance of the rooms.
Outdoor Education – We deliver High Ropes sessions, Canoeing and Kayaking and BMX to all ages and abilities. We have a small team of volunteers who can assist with the setting up of sessions and the liaison between the customer and our staff. We are also building up a team of volunteer coaches with the correct professional qualifications and are always looking for more people to join.
Community Transport – We run three vehicles as part of our community transport offer. Customers can hire out the vehicles with or without a driver and we have a small team of volunteer drivers who help run the business unit. We transport groups such as the Alzheimer’s Society, youth groups and School groups. Drivers need to have D1 on their licence.
In addition to the opportunities above we also have extensive grounds that are maintained by a dedicated volunteer gardener who is always looking for assistance. We also have a reception desk open 6 days a week and appreciate support from volunteers who like to speak to customers and share what the Hub is all about.
