A new Stay & Play group gets underway this week at The Hub thanks to the efforts of a group of Mums from Teesdale. Back in January three parents were unable to meet at their regular spot due to a double booking. Jess Thompson thought on her feet and called her sister Laura, Deputy Manager at The Hub to check on space there. An hour later and the four children were playing happily on the bouncy castle. The Mums meanwhile enjoyed some coffee and sweet treats from The Hub Cafe. Following this impromptu meeting, the parents decided to use The Hub as a regular meeting point, and have developed the idea of a new Stay and Play group at the community centre.
The sessions will be lead by two of the parents, Jessica Thompson and Rebecca Rainbow, who will volunteer their time. There will be arts and crafts for the little ones to create, toys for all ages and use of The Hub’s bouncy castle. Mrs Thompson said “Our children had a great time when we last came to The Hub. We chatted about the experience and thought it great if others could take part too. The group will be a bit different from a regular play group as the children have use of the bouncy castle, which my little boy loves – it’s perfect for the older ones to burn off some energy”.
Laura commented, “The group supports our ethos of both providing services for the community and also supporting members of our community. It’s nice that we can assist two local mums with their venture whilst improving our offer to under 5’s and families. We are really looking forward to the group starting”.
Stay and Play at The Hub is for children aged 0-5 years old and everyone is welcome. The session runs from 10.00am until 12.00pm with The Hub Kitchen available for refreshments. The first session is Friday 10th March. It will then run on the first Friday of every month from 10.00am – 12.00pm. A donation of £2.00 per family is requested to support the costs of the group.
